Ice Fishing: How to Play, Bonus Games and Stats

Ice Fishing is a live game show from Evolution built around a virtual money wheel with 53 segments. You bet on where the wheel will stop: on Leaf 1, on Leaf 2, or on one of three bonus segments named after the fish you can catch (Lil' Blues, Big Oranges and Huge Reds). If the wheel stops on a Leaf result you backed, you are paid at that result's rate. If it stops on a bonus segment you backed, a fishing bonus game starts and the fish the host reels in decides your multiplier. Random multipliers added before the spin can make either kind of win larger.

How a round works, step by step

  1. Place your bets. During the betting time you choose one or more spots: Leaf 1, Leaf 2, Lil' Blues, Big Oranges or Huge Reds. Nothing stops you from covering several of them in the same round, but every extra spot is an extra stake that can be lost.
  2. Multipliers are added. Before the wheel turns, random multipliers can land on segments. According to Evolution, the Leaf segments can receive 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x or 10x, and the bonus segments can receive anything from 2x to 10x.
  3. The wheel spins. It stops on one segment, and that is the result of the round.
  4. Bets are settled. A Leaf win pays its base rate (see the game's rules), increased by any multiplier that landed on it. A bonus result opens that bonus game, but only for players who had a stake on it.

How the wheel is made up

Most segments are Leaf 1 or Leaf 2, and the rest are split between the three bonus types. The exact number for each result is in the game's rules.

That detail matters more than it looks. On any money wheel, how often a result lands depends on how many segments it occupies, and the payout for that result is set with that frequency in mind. A result with many segments lands often and pays little; a result with few segments lands rarely and pays more. Ice Fishing follows the same logic, which is why the bonus games are both the most exciting part of the show and the part you will miss most of the time.

The three bonus games in depth

All three bonuses share the same idea. The host goes out on the ice, drops a line and reels in a fish. The fish carries a multiplier, and that multiplier is only revealed once the fish is out of the water. The difference between the three games is the range of values the fish can carry:

If a wheel multiplier landed on the bonus segment before the spin, it also counts towards the win; exactly how it combines with the fish's value is explained in the game's rules.

The ranges tell you something about the trade-off. Huge Reds has the highest floor and the highest ceiling, but in our own records it was also by far the rarest result. A bonus with a big top value is not a better bet in itself; the top values sit at the far end of the range and come up rarely by design.

Multipliers and the maximum win

Evolution advertises rewards of up to 5,000x in Ice Fishing. A number like that needs several things to line up at once, so it is extremely rare. In the 24 hours we looked at, the highest multiplier we recorded was 1,680x. If you want a refresher on how multipliers turn into payouts, see Multipliers in Live Casino Games Explained.

RTP and house edge

Return to player (RTP) is the share of all stakes a game pays back over a very long run of rounds; the part it keeps is the house edge. Evolution's public page does not give an RTP for Ice Fishing. On wheel games the figure can differ from one bet to another, so if RTP matters to you, open the help screen inside the game and check the value for each spot before you play. Over a short session, your result can sit far above or far below any long-run average.

What our data shows

In the 24 hours to 15 October 2026 (04:30 UTC) we recorded 2,795 Ice Fishing rounds. Here is how they ended:

Taken together, the three bonus games made up 12.2% of recorded rounds. Huge Reds came up in roughly 50 rounds out of almost 2,800. These are past results. They describe one day of play, and a day is a small sample for results that land only a few times in a hundred spins. On the Ice Fishing page you can switch between periods and watch how much these shares move.

Common misconceptions

"Huge Reds has not landed for ages, so it must be close." This is the gambler's fallacy. The wheel has no memory, and the chance of each result is the same on every spin, however long it has been since it last appeared. The "rounds since" figures on our page are history, not a countdown.

"I can make up my losses by raising my stake on the bonus." Raising stakes after losses does not change the house edge. It only makes losing runs more expensive. Our article Does the Martingale System Work? walks through why.

"A big multiplier last round means another is unlikely." Multipliers are drawn at random for each spin. One round's multipliers say nothing about the next.

Before you play

Decide on an amount you can afford to lose, set a time limit, and stop when either runs out. Bonus bets in Ice Fishing lose in most rounds; that is how the game is built, not bad luck. Our guide Setting Limits: A Practical Guide to Safer Play shows simple ways to set limits.

Past results are not a prediction or guarantee of future outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

How many segments does the Ice Fishing wheel have?

The number of segments, overall and for each result, is in the game's rules at your casino; the sources we checked do not agree.

Which Ice Fishing bonus pays the most?

Huge Reds has the widest range, from 10x to 500x. Lil' Blues pays 3x to 100x and Big Oranges 4x to 200x. A wheel multiplier on the bonus segment can add to that.

Does a long run without Huge Reds make it more likely on the next spin?

No. Each spin is independent of the ones before it. Our statistics describe what has already happened; they are not a forecast.
