Funky Time: How to Play, Bonus Games and Stats

Funky Time is a disco-themed live game show from Evolution built around a large money wheel. You bet on where the wheel will stop: on the number 1, on individual letters, or on the bonus segments. The letters spell out words on the wheel, and Evolution says the 24 letter segments pay a default of 25:1. If the wheel stops on a number or letter you backed, you are paid at its rate. If it stops on a bonus segment you backed, you join that bonus game. There are four bonus games: Bar, Stayin' Alive, Disco and VIP Disco.

The bets, step by step

  1. Choose your spots. You can bet on the number 1, on any of the letters P, L, A, Y, F, U, N, K, T, I, M and E, and on the bonus segments. You can back several in the same round.
  2. The wheel spins. The presenter sets the wheel going and it stops on a single segment.
  3. Numbers and letters pay. A letter result pays 25:1 by default; the number 1 pays at its own rate, shown in the game's rules.
  4. Bonus results open a game. Only players with a stake on that bonus segment take part.

How the wheel is made up

Evolution's public page confirms the 24 letter segments; how many segments the number 1 and each bonus occupy is in the game's rules. As on every money wheel, the more segments a result has, the more often it lands, and the payout is set with that in mind. In our records the number 1 was by far the most frequent result, while each letter on its own appeared only a few times in a hundred spins. That is why letters pay much more than the number 1.

The four bonus games in depth

Bar

The simplest of the four. Three glasses are shown, each hiding a random multiplier. You pick one glass, and the multiplier inside is your payout. Because players choose their own glass, two people at the same table can win different amounts in the same bonus.

Stayin' Alive

Here you climb a ladder of 20 levels, and the top of the ladder is 10,000x. Balls are drawn to move you up. You start with four lives, and each STOP ball costs you one. When the lives run out, the climb ends. How the final payout is taken from the ladder is explained in the game's rules. This is the bonus with the highest ceiling, but reaching the top rungs is very rare.

Disco

Mr Funky moves across a dance floor of 37 squares and collects the multipliers he steps on. The bonus ends when he steps off the floor. How his moves are decided is explained in the game's rules.

VIP Disco

The same idea as Disco on a larger floor of 63 squares; other differences are in the game's rules.

Multipliers and the maximum win

Evolution names 10,000x as the top of the Stayin' Alive ladder but does not state a single maximum for the whole game. The 200x we recorded as the day's highest multiplier is a reminder of how far apart "possible" and "usual" are. For more on how multipliers translate into a payout, see Multipliers in Live Casino Games Explained.

RTP and house edge

Return to player (RTP) is the share of stakes a game pays back over a very long run; the remainder is the house edge. Evolution's public page does not list RTP for Funky Time. On games with many betting spots, the figure can differ between bets, so check the in-game help for the spots you use. A short session can end far from any long-run average.

What our data shows

In the 24 hours to 15 October 2026 (04:30 UTC) we recorded 1,073 Funky Time rounds. The main shares were:

The highest multiplier we recorded in that period was 200x. These are past results. With just over a thousand rounds, a single letter appears only a few dozen times, so its share can easily look high or low by chance. The Funky Time page shows the latest spins and lets you compare periods.

Common misconceptions

"The letters spelling FUNK have been missing, so they will fill in soon." The wheel does not try to complete words. Each spin is independent, and a letter that has been absent has the same chance as before. Believing otherwise is the gambler's fallacy.

"Covering lots of letters is a safe way to play." Covering more spots means more of your stake is on the table each round. When most of it loses, the 25:1 on one letter has to make up for all the others.

"After a big Stayin' Alive run, the next one will be small." Each bonus starts fresh. One result says nothing about the next.

"I can win it back by doubling up." Increasing stakes after a loss does not change the house edge. Read Does the Martingale System Work? before trying any betting system.

Before you play

Pick a budget you can afford to lose and a time limit, and stop at whichever comes first. Funky Time is quick and colourful, which makes it easy to lose track of how much you have staked. Our guide Setting Limits: A Practical Guide to Safer Play covers simple ways to stay in control.

Frequently asked questions

What does a letter pay in Funky Time?

Evolution states that the 24 letter segments pay a default of 25:1. The payout for the number 1 is in the game's rules.

What is the highest multiplier in Funky Time?

The Stayin' Alive ladder goes up to 10,000x. Evolution does not give one overall maximum for the game. In the 24 hours we checked, the highest multiplier we recorded was 200x.

Do letters come up in streaks I can follow?

Short runs happen by chance. Each spin is independent, so a letter that appeared twice in a row is no more or less likely on the next spin.
