Speed Baccarat: Rules, Bets and Stats

Speed Baccarat is Evolution's fast version of live baccarat. The game follows the rules of standard baccarat: you bet on whether the Player hand or the Banker hand will finish closer to nine, or on a Tie between them. What changes is the pace. The cards are dealt face up and, according to Evolution, each round is completed in about 27 seconds. You decide on your bet, the dealer deals, and the next round begins almost at once.

The rules, step by step

  1. Bet before the timer ends. You choose Player, Banker or Tie. The game's help screen shows whether the table offers side bets.
  2. The deal. The dealer gives two cards to the Player hand and two to the Banker hand, face up.
  3. A third card may follow. Fixed rules decide whether either hand draws a third card; you do not make that choice. The full rule is set out in the game's help screen.
  4. The hand closest to nine wins. Card values and the way totals are counted are set out in the game rules.
  5. Bets are settled. Winning bets are paid, and a new round starts right away.

There are only three main outcomes, and you have no decisions to make once the cards are out. That is a big part of baccarat's appeal: the rules look complicated on paper, but from the player's seat it is a simple choice between three spots.

Payouts, commission and the Tie

How much each bet pays is shown in the game. We do not repeat payout figures here until they are checked against the official rules. Two points are worth checking before you play:

The house edge on the Tie is listed in the game's help screen. Its payout looks generous because it lands much less often than the other two.

No bonus rounds: speed is the feature

Speed Baccarat has no bonus game and no random multipliers. The thing that sets it apart is the number of rounds. At about 27 seconds per round, far more hands are played in an hour than at a standard table. In our records, the table produced 2,756 rounds in 24 hours, which works out at roughly 115 an hour.

That pace has a cost that is easy to miss. The house edge applies to every stake, so the more hands you play in an hour, the more money passes through the game and the larger your expected loss over the session. A small stake per hand can turn into a large total quickly.

RTP and house edge

Return to player (RTP) is the share of stakes a game pays back over a very long run; the remainder is the house edge. Payouts vary by bet type; see the game's rules for details. You can find the exact figures in the game's help screen at your casino. Any of these figures describes a very large number of hands. A single session can end well above or well below it.

What our data shows

In the 24 hours to 15 October 2026 (04:30 UTC) we recorded 2,756 rounds at Speed Baccarat A. They ended like this:

Banker and Player were close, with Banker slightly ahead; the Tie came up in one round in ten. These are past results from a single table over a single day. On the Speed Baccarat A page you can see the latest results and compare other periods.

Common misconceptions

"Banker has won five in a row, so Player must be next." This is the gambler's fallacy. Each hand is independent of the last. Streaks of five or more are a normal feature of random results, not a signal.

"Following the roads tells you where the shoe is heading." Baccarat is known for its road charts and pattern grids. They are a neat record of what happened, but no pattern in past hands changes the next hand. Our page shows the history in plain numbers for the same reason: to describe, not to forecast.

"The Tie has not come up for a while, so it is a good bet now." The chance of a Tie on the next hand is the same as on any other hand.

"A progression system will beat the table." Doubling after losses runs into table limits and budgets long before it beats the house edge. Our article Does the Martingale System Work? explains why, with numbers.

Before you play

Because Speed Baccarat moves so quickly, decide on both a money limit and a time limit before your first hand, and keep to them. If you notice you are betting just to keep up with the pace, it is a good moment to take a break. Our guide Setting Limits: A Practical Guide to Safer Play has practical ways to set limits.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a round of Speed Baccarat?

Evolution says each round is completed in about 27 seconds, with the cards dealt face up. In the 24 hours we checked we recorded 2,756 rounds at one table.

Is there a commission on the Banker bet?

That depends on the table rules, which are in the in-game help.

Banker has won several hands in a row. Should I switch?

A streak does not change the next hand. Each hand is independent, so the chances are the same whatever happened before.
